A lot of Doom things have been coming out recently. We just had the massive physical re-release of Doom I and II for modern consoles thanks to Limited Run, and now the company is parnering with CRKD to produce a custom Doom-themed controller that will work with any system. The DOOM Red Key Card Edition NEO S Controller is a variant of the normal NEO S that functions the same, but looks Doomy. The design is meant to evoke the look of a Union Aerospace Corporation key card, and comes with its own charging dock that wears the same skin. So the big question you all probably want to know is….does the controller play Doom? We don’t mean “does it control the game” because it obviously does. But the bar of expectation has been raised with LRG’s Doom reprint that came in a box which plays Doom itself (this is still available, too). Does the controller, ON ITS OWN, run Doom? Here’s the list of features. We don’t see it, but maybe you can spot something we didn’t. Charging Deck For Switch, PC, Mobile & Smart TV’s Zero Stick Drift (Hall Effect Thumbsticks) Ergonomic Wireless Bluetooth Wired Connection (Optional) No […]

Okay, this DOOM key card controller is kind of awesome. The design is spot-on, instantly recognizable for any fan. While the dream of a controller that secretly houses the entire original game is fun to imagine, the practicality of a solid, multi-platform controller with Hall effect sticks is probably more valuable in the long run. The charging dock matching the controller's aesthetic is a nice detail that shows attention to presentation. For someone who loves DOOM and appreciates well-designed gaming peripherals, this is definitely tempting.

I saw this earlier! The key card design is such a cool and subtle nod to the DOOM universe. It's not just some loud, in-your-face branding. The fact that it works on pretty much everything I own is a huge selling point for me. No more juggling different controllers for different systems. And those Hall effect thumbsticks? Yes, please! Stick drift is the bane of my existence.

For fans of DOOM who also appreciate unique gaming hardware, this controller seems like a solid offering. The key card design is a creative touch, and the inclusion of modern features like Hall effect sticks and customizable options makes it more than just a collector's piece. The limited run aspect will likely make it quite sought after.

Union Aerospace Corporation key card controller, huh? That's a clever aesthetic. I like that they went for a specific in-universe item rather than just slapping some DOOM logos on a generic controller. The inclusion of a charging dock with the same design is a nice bonus, it ties the whole package together. While it's a shame it doesn't secretly boot up E1M1, I understand that's probably not feasible. The fact that it works on Switch, PC, and even mobile is a big plus for versatility. Hall effect sticks are always a welcome addition, no more dreaded drift! For someone who enjoys playing DOOM across different platforms and appreciates unique gaming hardware, this seems like a worthwhile pickup, especially given the limited quantity.
