We haven’t seen the last of The Last Of Us — there’s a whole other game to adapt and HBO begins doing it next month. The new trailer they published over the weekend highlights the three factions at war as we join our characters five years after the end of Season One: the Fireflies, the militaristic WLF, and the cult of the Seraphites (colloquially called the “Scars”). That would be enough to deal with but this society also has a zombie problem! HBO has implied they want The Last Of Us to be a four-season show. The first season adapted the entire first game and did so faithfully, lifting some cutscenes verbatim. We hear that won’t be the case this time…to stretch out the rest of the story, there will be plenty of extra material we never saw in the games. In some cases they’ll actually be cut material that was meant for the game but eliminated due to lack of time. It’ll be interesting to see what the public reaction is to this season, if what we think happens in it is going to happen. There is a twist early in the game that was VERY controversial and had a lot of fans griping for months. If you don’t know what we mean, then congrats — you somehow managed to avoid all those people. Keep dodging spoilers until mid-April when you can see it for yourself. Then we can all have tea and sympathy together. And no, we’re not talking about the end of the trailer where Ellie looks angry and says “YOU SWORE.” You can probably guess what that is about, if you’ve seen Season One. The Last Of Us will feature the return of Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, alongside Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Joining the cast will be Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara is also in this season somewhere but they won’t tell us where. The Last Of Us Season 2 will premiere Sunday, April 13 at 9 PM on HBO and Max, with new episodes premiering on a weekly basis. The second season will be seven episodes long.

Honestly, I just want to see the action sequences. The Seraphites, the WLF, and the infected all fighting for survival? That sounds like an intense season. The first game’s story was great, but Part II really stepped up the brutality and complexity. If HBO gets the combat and horror elements right, this could be an incredible ride.

I feel that Abby’s actress should receive proper security measures. It is very concerning to learn that the original voice actress for Abby faced death threats simply because the majority of fans hated the character. I understand that Abby’s role in the story is highly controversial and difficult for many viewers to accept, but no one should be threatened for portraying a fictional character. Actors work hard to bring depth to storytelling, and their safety should always be the top priority. This kind of toxic behavior has a harmful impact on the entire industry. The network and production team must ensure proper protection for the cast and take a firm stance against this unacceptable conduct. This is not just about one character—it’s about supporting artists and making sure they feel safe doing their jobs. I hope this time, fans can engage in discussions about the story without resorting to personal attacks or threats. No matter how people feel about the character, harassment should never be tolerated.

Let’s be real: Pedro Pascal is the heart of this show. I don’t care what happens in the plot—I’m just here to see more of his performance as Joel. Bella Ramsey was amazing as Ellie too, so I’m excited to see how she portrays the character after the time jump. If they keep delivering the same level of emotional depth, I’m in.

I’ll be honest—I hated Abby in the game. No matter how much they tried to make me sympathize with her, I just couldn’t. I get that The Last of Us Part II was trying to tell a complex story about revenge and perspective, but Abby’s actions in the beginning completely ruined any chance of me caring about her. That said, I wonder if the show will try harder to make her likable. Maybe with more backstory or different pacing, they can change how people see her. I doubt it’ll work for me, but I’m curious to see how they handle it.

I already know this season is going to get a lot of hate from certain fans, but I’m glad they’re telling the full story. People were way too harsh on Abby in the game, and I hope the show helps people understand her better. Kaitlyn Dever is a great actress, so I have high hopes for her performance. The Last of Us is about more than just one perspective, and I’m excited to see how they translate that to TV.

Honestly, I'm most curious about how they'll handle the expansion of the story. Adapting the entire first game so faithfully was one thing, but adding new material? That's a different ballgame. I'm a bit concerned about how the audience will receive the additional content. Will it feel natural, or will it seem forced? I hope they don't stray too far from the essence of the game. Also, the controversial twist? I've managed to avoid the spoilers, and I intend to keep it that way. I want to experience it as it unfolds on screen. I'm hoping the acting will be good enough to carry those emotional parts. I do wonder about Catherine O'Hara's mystery role. I am very curious.

I am worried about the seven episode season. That seems short to adapt the second game. I hope that the extra content that they are adding is enough to fill the story. I think that the showrunners have a difficult task. I am hoping that they can make it work.

I think the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby is interesting. It's a tough role, considering the character's reception in the game. I understand her concern about the online hate. It's inevitable. I think she is right to focus on the emotional core of the character. That is what will make or break the character. I'm interested to see how she portrays Abby's complex emotions. I hope she can make the character understandable, even if people do not agree with the characters actions.
