“She Was Pretty” is a 2015 Korean drama series, with 16 episodes, based on a true story, and categorized as Office, Workplace, Romance, and Comedy (Rom-Com). It is available on KOCOWA+ and Viki. SUMMARY: When they were kids, she was pretty. Now she looks like a train wreck and her first love who left to go to the USA is now back in Korea. He wants to meet her again. WHAT?? She can’t let him see her now! It would destroy their beautiful memory of their first love. ♦ She Was Pretty But Changed Over Time “She Was Pretty” is kind of a Korean version of Cyrano de Bergerac, a play written by Edmond Rostand and published in 1897. I melted when Ji Sung-Joon finally recognized Hye-Jin and saw her for who she truly was. That’s the kind of moment I live for in romance dramas! Yes, he was harsh at first, but that made his transformation even more satisfying. Sometimes, love stories need that contrast. And that ending? So sweet! The journey was rocky, but it was worth it. Definitely one of my comfort dramas now.

It was okay. Too much focus on looks at the start, but the second half improved. Ji Sung-Joon was unbearable at first, but at least he grew as a character. Shin-Hyuk was more entertaining than the main couple. Not my favorite, but not the worst either.

This drama made me feel a lot of things. It reminded me of how people change over time and how we sometimes hold onto past versions of ourselves or others. Hye-Jin’s struggle with self-esteem hit close to home, and I found her journey inspiring. I did feel bad for Min Ha-Ri, though. She was put in an impossible situation and had to hurt her best friend in the process. I liked how the show ultimately emphasized friendship, personal growth, and real love over superficial attraction. Not perfect, but definitely touching.

I feel the same. Not my fave, but not that bad. I'm just wondering if curly hair and freckles are considered "ugly" by Korean beauty standards.
