Wicked’s Box Office Magic: Defying Gravity and Expectations! The Wicked movie is off to a flying start, leaving naysayers eating their words and Glinda cosplayers twirling in joy. With a whopping $145 million budget, this Wizard of Oz prequel adaptation was expected to pull in a modest $20 million on opening day. Instead, it belted out a Defying Gravity-level $117 million at the domestic box office (as of this writing) and has already made $165 million worldwide. Congrats, folks, it’s officially breaking even faster than a flying monkey can soar!
