Jim Henson was at his creative peak when he introduced Fraggle Rock in the 1980s: first debuting on HBO, the series was about a species of fun-loving creatures who lived past the hole in the wall in somebody’s house. They shared their cave dwelling with even smaller beings like the work-obsessed Doozers (whose structures the Fraggles would frequently wreck and eat) and the gigantic Gorgs, whose world was at the other end of the tunnel. When Disney took ownership of the Muppets in the 2000s, the deal was JUST for Kermit and the Muppet Show gang — everything else Henson created remained property of the Henson Company. It’s only recently that the studio has been able to take full advantage of that, with the rise of streaming creating a market for revivals of things like Fraggle Rock and Dark Crystal (Netflix had that one, and annoyingly capped it at one season, as they tend to do). Fraggle Rock has found a more welcome home with Apple TV. The revival, subtitled Back To The Rock, is still in production and the first season is even getting a Blu-Ray set. I remember spending hours glued to the TV after school, mesmerized by Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley, and Boober. Those catchy tunes and wacky adventures totally defined my childhood. Now I can share the magic with my own kids! Plus, bonus features like commentaries and blooper reels? Sign me up! This is definitely going on my Christmas list. Can't wait to relive all the fun and introduce a whole new generation to the wonder of Fraggle Rock!

Fraggle Rock revival, huh? Not sure I'm sold. The original series holds a special place in my heart, and I'm always wary of remakes. Will it capture the same quirky humor and heartfelt messages? Sometimes, it's best to leave classics untouched. However, the Blu-Ray release with bonus features does pique my curiosity. Maybe the behind-the-scenes content will shed light on the creative process and the challenges of bringing back this beloved show. And hey, if the revival series turns out to be good, then that's a bonus. I'll probably wait for reviews before jumping in, but for hardcore Fraggle Rock fans, this Blu-Ray set might be worth checking out.

The original series tackled environmental issues in a lighthearted way, teaching valuable lessons about respecting nature and working together. It'll be interesting to see if the revival addresses contemporary environmental concerns. Hopefully, the show continues to promote eco-friendly values and inspires young viewers to take care of our planet. The episode descriptions hint at a water shortage storyline in Fraggle Rock - a timely issue that resonates with audiences today.
