Crunchyroll's NYCC 2024 Announcements

NYCC 2024 took place over the last weekend, and Crunchyroll was there for its annual panel. Though there wasn’t much announced that was earth-shattering, there were a few bits of info that made the panel worth it. Probably the biggest announcement was a release date for the final season of Dr. Stone, which will be called Dr. Stone Science Future. Now that the secret of how the world turned to stone has been revealed AND stopped, what’s left to do? You’ll have to wait until January 2025 to find out, for that is when the season will start running (or you could read the manga). Crunchyroll also revealed the first full trailer for the season. Check it out: Four new acquisitions were also announced during the panel, which include Go For It, Nakamura-kun!, OKITSURA, and I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic. Based on the manga “The Dialect of the Girl I Fell in Love With in Okinawa is Too Difficult to Deal With” created by Egumi Sora, the coming-of-age slice of romance anime, OKITSURA: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Know What She’s Saying, is set […]

YOOOOO! Dr. Stone: Science Future?! That title sounds epic! I gotta see how they rebuild society after all that. J

A new coming-of- age romance set in Okinawa? Sign me up for OKITSURA! Sounds like a cute story about overcoming language barriers and finding love. Plus, the animation style looks adorable in the trailer!

Go For It, Nakamura-kun! sounds like a classic high school rom-com with a clumsy protagonist. I love those! Plus, the studio behind it made KONOSUBA, so I expect some good laughs. Definitely adding this to my Crunchyroll watchlist for 2025.

"I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic" definitely caught my eye. From the trailer, it seems like there's a good mix of fantasy elements and lighthearted comedy. Studio DEEN has some great titles under their belt too, so I'm cautiously optimistic!

My Hero Academia on Roblox?! Now that's something I didn't see coming. It'll be interesting to see how they translate the MHA world and characters into a Roblox game. As a huge fan of both, I'll definitely check it out!

Not gonna lie, Crunchyroll's NYCC announcements were a bit underwhelming. No mind-blowing reveals or adaptations of super popular manga. Still, the new Dr. Stone season is something to look forward to, and OKITSURA looks like a charming slice-of-life pick.

Sweet! More anime for Crunchyroll in 2025! That means more content to binge without breaking the bank. Can't wait to see how these new series turn out!

Glad to see Crunchyroll bringing in more variety with their new acquisitions. From school romances to fantasy isekai, there's something for everyone. Let's hope these shows live up to the hype and keep the anime community buzzing!
