Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium Celebrates The Game Magazine Age

I have this giant stack of old EGMs (Electronic Gaming Monthly) and have gone back and forth over whether I should keep them around or not. It turned out to be a good thing I held onto them: the original staff of EGM is reuniting to create the ultimate companion book to the entirety of the EGM run. Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium launched its Kickstarter campaign today and broke its initial goal plus several stretch goals within hours. There was this primitive age when the only solid source of gaming news was a time-delayed book that was mailed to you once a month. It would be full of reviews, previews, 1990s sass and borderline-obscene advertising. EGM wasn’t the only game in town back then, but it was the biggest. As the Internet took over and subscriptions dropped, EGM’s page count shrank until it finally vanished entirely in 2008. But those glory years were something else. Today, EGM stands as a permanent record to gaming history that can’t be deleted the way websites can. And if you were a reader of EGM and keep your stack around for some reason, like I do, then the Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium is for […]

I wish this magazine is still alive. I use to buy it a lot as a teen waiting for their april fool's joke. I dont know when I quit subscribing, I just stopped magazines when I had internet.

Man, this EGM compendium sounds awesome! I remember saving up my allowance for those magazines. Back then, it felt like EGM was the only way to stay in the loop about new games. Reviews, previews, strategy guides – it was all there! Plus, the ads were hilarious – remember those weird peripherals they used to sell? This book will be a great trip down memory lane.

Whoa, EGM! Haven't heard that name in ages. This Kickstarter sounds interesting – a whole book dedicated to that magazine? I remember flipping through them at the dentist's office as a kid. Back then, waiting for the next issue felt like forever. Now with the internet, news travels instantly. Still, there's something special about a physical book. Maybe I'll grab the digital version for a quick read during my commute.

A book about a video game magazine? Isn't that basically a glorified website? I mean, I get the nostalgia factor for older gamers, but why wouldn't I just search stuff online? It's free and way faster. Plus, who even reads physical books anymore? Maybe this is just for collectors with too much money on their hands.

Hold up, there was a time when you had to wait a whole month for gaming news? That sounds brutal! This EGM thing seems kinda cool though, like a time capsule for the history of video games. Interviews with game developers? That'd be interesting to see how they came up with some of my favorite classics. Maybe I'll ask my dad if he has any old EGM issues lying around.

EGM? Oh yeah, that magazine with the crazy cheat codes! Remember spending hours trying to unlock everything in those games? This compendium sounds neat, a walk down memory lane for sure.

$50 for a book? Oof, that's a bit steep. I love gaming history, but not sure I can justify the cost. Maybe I can find some good reviews online before I decide. Digital for $15 is more my style, but a physical book would be cool to have on the shelf. Gotta see if there are any used copies floating around after the Kickstarter ends.

I really miss those days when I'd be waiting for the new EGM to drop. Just flipping through those pages, checking out reviews, hunting for tips... there was something about actually holding that magazine, like you were touching a piece of gaming history or something. These days, I've kind of swapped that out for scrolling through different gaming sites for updates. Sometimes I'll even check out random stuff like free online slots on https://freeslotshub.com/ca/ when I'm just browsing around. It's weird, but it actually gives me that same vibe - like flipping through random pages and stumbling on something you weren't expecting. That little spark when you discover something new? Yeah, it's still there. Just looks different now, I guess.

Back in the day, I was all about gaming magazines, flipping through those glossy pages to get my fix of cheat codes, game reviews, and sneak peeks at upcoming releases. There was something magical about holding a magazine that made me feel connected to the global community of gamers. Of course, times change, and so do interests. These days I've discovered a new kind of entertainment with https://thebespoke.io/ payid pokies. It's such an easy way to dive into some gambling fun without leaving my couch. The instant pay feature is a nifty upgrade, no more chasing winnings or dealing with cumbersome transactions! Plus, they always have fresh themes and flashy graphics keeping things exciting just like discovering a hidden gem on a gaming magazine cover used to make my day. It's funny how swapping pixels for pokies has become my new go-to thrill ride!
