“The Sound of Your Heart” is a 2016 Korean comedy, now available to the US audience via Netflix. It’s a goofy Korean sitcom, loaded with laughs. It follows the daily lives of an aspiring webtoon writer/cartoonist, his girlfriend, and his wacky family, and is based on Korea’s longest-running webtoon series of the same name. The webtoon has 500+ episodes. But relax. This K-drama series only has 20 episodes, about a half hour each. NOTE: There is also a Season 2, The Sound of Your Heart Reboot, released in 2018, and streaming on Netflix; however, the cast has changed. Cho Seok is played by Sung Hoon (“Perfect Marriage Revenge”), and his girlfriend Ae-Bong is played by Kwon Yuri (“Bossam: Steal the Fate”). SUMMARY: In “The Sound of Your Heart”, Cho Seok has tried and failed repeatedly to get his webtoons published until he finally discovers that writing about his daily life with his wacky family and his interactions with his girlfriend are things people like to read about. ♦ Where to Find Great Writing Material “The Sound of Your Heart” takes you on a fun ride through the everyday life of Cho Seok, a webtoon/cartoonist. This review is making me laugh already! "Dame Maggie Smith of Korean cinema"? I gotta see this actress now! The cast seems fantastic, and the plot sounds like a wacky ride (without the actual ride, as requested). A webtoon artist finding inspiration in his dysfunctional family? Pure comedic gold! Adding this to my queue for sure.

I was really surprised when I saw that the webtoon series had over 500 episodes. I hold two South Korean actresses in high esteem. She's one of them. And there is one more I consider The Queen Dowager. She's like the mother of these two actresses. When I do more reviews, I will mention the other two women I'm talking about. Stay tuned!

Intriguing! A webtoon becoming a drama? That's a new one for me. I love how the show takes the idea of everyday life and turns it into something funny. The characters sound like a riot, especially the self-proclaimed lady's man and the doppelganger dad. This sounds like a show that will keep me guessing and laughing.

So this show is basically a love letter to family? I can dig that. The way they turn their mishaps into comedic fodder is heartwarming. The girlfriend sounds like a strong character, not afraid to speak her mind. And the mom bragging about her successful son? Classic! This show sounds like a feel-good comedy with a touch of reality. Perfect for a weekend binge-watch. Cheers!
