There have been many Batgirls over the years, but it all started with the original 1960s Batman TV series. The network wanted more characters, so the producers thought “why not a Bat….girl?” The idea was brought forth that Commissioner Gordon’s daughter could be a crimefighter, and the comics would adopt that notion later on. Cryptzoic’s latest DC statue is a tribute to that original Batgirl, clad in her yellow and purple outfit and matching cape. All that’s missing is the motorcycle, but it would probably cost extra. The figure is a stylized take on what was an actual actress, designed by Pedro Astudillo and sculpted by Anders Ehrenborg. Batgirl is seven and a half inches tall. Wow! This is such a nostalgia trip for me! I remember watching reruns of the 60s Batman show with my parents when I was younger, and Batgirl always stood out. Cryptozoic really nailed the look with the bright purple and yellow outfit, just like in the show! I love how they even included a rare Gold Onyx Edition; it makes me want to preorder and cross my fingers for one of those exclusive ones! Definitely adding this to my growing DC figure collection.

This is such a fantastic tribute to the classic Batgirl! I grew up watching the Batman show in the 60s, and Yvonne Craig as Batgirl was always my favorite. The yellow and purple costume brings back so many memories! I might have to treat myself to this figure for my office—it’s definitely something I could smile at every day.
