Party Like It's Y2K In A24's New Comedy

I suppose we’ve come to the point where we can make a Superbad-like party comedy set close to the time when Superbad was actually made. Y2K, from A24, is a new movie drenched in late 90s nostalgia about two boys who crash a rager. One came with the goal of finally asking out his crush, but they both have their eyes on the giant bottles of booze. Since this is A24, you’re waiting for the twist….and that’s when the lights go out. Oh, right….THAT thing. For those who weren’t there, I’m assuming all of you, a major source of anxiety […]

It's funny to think about how scared we were about the Y2K bug. I remember stocking up on canned goods and batteries. It's good to see that it's being made into a movie. Maybe it'll help people understand what it was like to live through that time.

I'm a little worried about the casting of Rachel Zegler. She's been getting a lot of hate online lately, and I hope it won't affect the movie's reception. I think she's a talented actress, and I hope people will judge her based on her performance rather than her Shenanigans with Snow White.

It's cool to see a movie about a historical event like the Y2K bug. I remember all the hype around it. It's interesting to see how the movie is taking a different approach and turning it into a horror-comedy. I wonder if they'll accurately portray the fear and uncertainty that people felt at the time.
