With another Summer Games Done Quick in the record books, a grand total of $2,573,570.39 was raised for Doctors Without Borders this year. And we had a lot of fun doing it: the entire nonstop marathon of video game speedruns has been preserved on the GDQ YouTube channel. But since watching them all would literally take a week, you probably need someone to pare down the list to the best moments, right? We’ve got you covered for another year: The dog is back! After Peanut Butter crushed Gyromite for the NES, he moves up a system and tackles MLB Starring Ken Griffey Jr. for the SNES! And he performs even better! This is one you don’t want to miss, especially the ending. We’ve already seen someone play Super Mario 64 blindfolded, so how about a RANDOMIZED Super Mario 64? Admittedly, there’s a bit of “help” here — speedrunner Bubzia plays a seed visually first, figures out where the stars are, and only then does he tackle it without sight. It’s

This is a great summary of SGDQ! That Ocarina of Time glitch is nuts, I gotta see DannyB's run. And the Silly Block late-night stuff is always a blast, Monster Party is a classic! Flame Fatales sounds cool too, good to see an all-female speedrunning event. Definitely gonna donate to next year's GDQs.

I’m already looking forward to Awesome Games Done Quick 2025. Pittsburgh is going to be an amazing venue, and I can’t wait to see what new runs and surprises are in store. It’s incredible how much GDQ has grown over the years, both in terms of fundraising and community engagement. Flame Fatales 2024 will be a great lead-up event, and I’m excited to see an all-female lineup of speedrunners showcasing their talents. These events are a highlight of my year, every year.

SGDQ 2024 was another unforgettable experience. The passion and dedication of the speedrunning community never cease to amaze me. From Peanut Butter’s impressive run to the mind-boggling glitches in Ocarina of Time, every moment was packed with excitement and entertainment. It’s heartwarming to see so much support for Doctors Without Borders, and it’s events like these that remind me why I love this community so much. Can’t wait for the next one!

I remember watching speedruns back in the day, but this whole organized marathon thing is new to me. Seems like a fun way to raise money for a good cause. Though I wouldn't have the patience to watch a week-long video game marathon! Maybe I'll catch a replay of a shorter run, like that SmartBall one with the funny commentary.

Did you guys SEE the dog beat that baseball game?! That's amazing! Animals are so much smarter than we give them credit for. I wonder if they'll have more dog speedrunners next year? Now I gotta go find some videos of Peanut Butter online, what a good boy!

Summer Games Done Quick 2024 truly showcased the best of what the speedrunning community has to offer. The event was filled with electrifying moments and memorable highlights that captivated audiences around the world. For me, one of the standout moments was Peanut Butter's run of MLB Starring Ken Griffey Jr. on the SNES. The sheer excitement and skill displayed by this incredible dog were nothing short of remarkable. It’s amazing to see how much joy and entertainment a speedrunning event can bring, and Peanut Butter's performance epitomized that spirit. The fact that these events also raise significant funds for Doctors Without Borders makes them even more special. Over $2.5 million raised is an incredible achievement and speaks volumes about the generosity and commitment of the gaming community. Every year, GDQ continues to push the boundaries, bringing together talented speedrunners and fans for a cause that truly matters.

This is fantastic! Video games can be a force for good, and raising over $2 million for Doctors Without Borders is incredible. I'll definitely have to check out some of these speedruns and donate to the next event. Gaming for charity? Now that's something I can get behind!
