If they had come out with a Karate Kid arcade game at the time of the movies, what would it look like? Probably a lot like The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, a 16-bit-styled scrolling brawler coming from GameMill Entertainment later this year. Much like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (which GameMill had nothing to do with) your goal is to advance through stages one fight at a time, sometimes with several adversaries at once. And for once, more than just the usual two characters are represented! You can throw down as Daniel LaRusso, Mr. Miyagi, Ali Mils (With An I) and Kumiko…at the same time! These four were never in a room together until now. They also fight adversaries from across the series including Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese and Terry Silver. One might observe from the boxart that the characters don’t quite look like the actors from the movies. That’s because accurate likenesses cost extra dough, which GameMill didn’t feel like spending. With the 16-bit graphical style, though, it’s

I dont remember Ali and Kumiko being fighters, they are damsels in the movie. They should have used Julie Pierce instead

OMG! A Karate Kid beat-'em-up?! This is like, totally tubular! I grew up watching the movies, and always wished I could learn crane kick someone (probably not a good idea in real life...). This game looks amazing, especially with that old-school pixel art style. September can't come soon enough!

Johnny as a boss fight? I gotta be honest, that stings a little. Seeing him on the other side of the screen after everything Cobra Kai threw at him...it just feels wrong. Yeah, the guy messed up, majorly messed up, but come on, the dude's been through the wringer. Maybe fighting Kreese or Silver makes sense, those guys reveled in being jerks. But Johnny? He's just a broken dude trying to find his way. Look, I'm down to throw down with anyone who wants a fight, but against Johnny? I dunno, feels like picking on a stray dog.

Pixel art done right can be a thing of beauty, and this game looks like it nails that aesthetic. It's impressive how they capture the essence of the movies with that classic 16-bit style. Definitely a game for fans who appreciate a good throwback.

This game screams "game night with friends!" Can you imagine the laughs and friendly competition playing a Karate Kid beat-'em-up with 4 players? Plus, the 80s chiptune soundtrack would be perfect background music for some pizza and drinks. This game is practically begging to be a party starter!

Don't get me wrong, I love Ali and Kumiko, but playable characters? They're awesome in their own ways, but let's be real, they weren't exactly throwing down in the movies. Ali's got that firecracker spirit, sure, but fighting's not exactly her thing. And Kumiko? Sweetheart's a talented musician, not a karate champ. No disrespect, but wouldn't someone like Julie Pierce, who actually trained with Miyagi, make more sense? Maybe they needed some girl power, which I respect, but come on, there's gotta be a better balance. Still, who knows, maybe they learned some hidden fighting moves off-screen. Hey, a girl can dream, right? I'm all for giving it a shot, but until I see some epic karate skills from Ali and Kumiko, I'm raising an eyebrow.

This Karate Kid: Street Rumble? Way cooler than those last few forgettable Karate Kid games! Finally, a beat-'em-up that captures the spirit of the movies. Shredder's Revenge was awesome, and this looks like it's following that same recipe for side-scrolling fun. Who needs fancy graphics when you've got classic pixel art and a chance to wail on Cobra Kai thugs with Miyagi-Do moves? Plus, four-player co-op? Game night just got a whole lot more interesting. September can't come soon enough!

This looks way more fire than that lame-ahh Cobra Kai game that came out a while back. Remember that one? Story was all over the place, controls jankier than a rusty bike chain, and the graphics looked like someone left their phone charging in the microwave. This Street Rumble, though? Pixel art done right, classic beat-'em-up action, and you can even team up with your friends? Sign me up! Finally, a Karate Kid game that lets you unleash your inner Daniel LaRusso and actually have some fun doing

Yeah, I gotta be honest, this Karate Kid beat-'em-up isn't exactly setting my joystick on fire. Side-scrolling brawlers are cool and all, but haven't we seen this formula a million times already? Punch, kick, repeat. Maybe it's the whole pixel art thing, feels a bit overdone these days. And where's the challenge? Just mindlessly bashing through hordes of enemies? Don't get me wrong, I love The Karate Kid, but this feels like a cheap cash grab on nostalgia. Maybe if they added some deeper fighting mechanics, a more engaging story, or even some online multiplayer, it might pique my interest. But for now, this looks like a title I'll be happily blocking from my gaming queue.
