Atlus hasn’t developed a new Persona game in quite some time, and it’ll be a while still: the team behind it decided to make something different, a new RPG called Metaphor ReFantazio. The game will be released worldwide this October, but it’ll be shown off in playable form at Gamescom Latam, Latin America’s game industry conference. Gamescom Latam will take place starting tomorrow from June 26 to June 30 at São Paulo Expo. Another Atlus game, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (which already came out) will be playable on the show floor. “It is a pleasure to have SEGA for the first time with us at the event,” says Gustavo Steinberg, CEO of Gamescom Latam. “We are sure that this is the first step of a long and fruitful partnership.” In the world of Metaphor ReFantazio, the king is dead and according to the rules of this democratic monarchy, anyone can officially take the throne as long as they have the votes. But it’s not THAT fair — it’s easier

New RPG from the Persona team and it's not Persona? Metaphor ReFantazio sounds interesting! A democratic monarchy with a cursed prince? That's a wild setup, and the political angle differs from what Atlus usually does. Curious to see how the story unfolds. Playable at Gamescom Latam? Lucky ducks in Latin America! I guess I'll have to wait for October to try it myself. But seriously, Atlus branching out and trying something new is exciting. Maybe this will be their next big hit!

A democratic monarchy with an election to become king? This Metaphor ReFantazio sounds like a game that rewards strategy! The idea of overcoming your lower-class origins through political maneuvering is fascinating. I wonder how the choices we make impact the campaign? Can we leverage social media, public debates, or even good old-fashioned mudslinging? And how do side quests factor in? Are they just for grinding, or can they influence the election in some way? The time limit adds an extra layer of stress, forcing you to prioritize actions for maximum impact. This could be a deep and engaging RPG experience, especially for those who enjoy a good political simulation.

I wonder how much these side quests affect the main story? Can you completely ignore the election and just focus on exploring the world? Knowing Atlus, there's probably a ton of hidden secrets and missables to discover too.

So... Atlus is reportedly shifting away from Persona to create a democratic monarchy RPG. I have my doubts about this. I absolutely adored Persona 5 and the unique blend of school life and demon battling that made Atlus stand out. This new game, Metaphor ReFantazio, seems like a departure from their usual style, and I'm not sure if it will capture the same magic. Also, it feels a bit unfair that they have a playable demo at Gamescom Latam but nothing for the rest of the world. Hopefully, they'll release some gameplay footage online soon to ease my worries. Until then, I will cautiously remain optimistic about this new Atlus project.

A democratic monarchy? Sounds fishy. This Metaphor ReFantazio is probably some kind of metaphor for the real world, right? The rich and powerful controlling everything, even in a supposed democracy. Atlus is known for hiding deeper meanings in their games, so I bet there's more to this story than meets the eye. Maybe the whole election is rigged, and we have to find a way to expose the corruption? Intriguing
