Metaphor ReFantazio To Be Publicly Playable At Gamescom Latam

-

Atlus hasn’t developed a new Persona game in quite some time, and it’ll be a while still: the team behind it decided to make something different, a new RPG called Metaphor ReFantazio. The game will be released worldwide this October, but it’ll be shown off in playable form at Gamescom Latam, Latin America’s game industry conference.

Gamescom Latam will take place starting tomorrow from June 26 to June 30 at São Paulo Expo. Another Atlus game, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (which already came out) will be playable on the show floor. “It is a pleasure to have SEGA for the first time with us at the event,” says Gustavo Steinberg, CEO of Gamescom Latam. “We are sure that this is the first step of a long and fruitful partnership.”

In the world of Metaphor ReFantazio, the king is dead and according to the rules of this democratic monarchy, anyone can officially take the throne as long as they have the votes. But it’s not THAT fair — it’s easier for the rich and aristocratic to get in than it is for your lower-class character, who will have to travel all over the country drumming up support. One way to earn a lot of favor is to find a way to cure a cursed prince, who is introduced in the opening cinematic. There are a central series of tasks you must perform within the time you’re given, but plenty of side quests to choose from.

According to the latest press release, Metaphor ReFantazio will launch multiplatform, which contradicts earlier reports of it being an XBox exclusive. Playstation 5, Playstation 4, XBox and Steam will each get versions of it. Metaphor ReFantazio comes out October 11.
