HAIKYU!! isn’t the only sports anime that will be hitting the big screen this summer. A month from now, Crunchyroll will bring over Blue Lock: The Movie -Episode Nagi-, a younger series following a different sport (soccer). Based on the manga series of the same name by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, Blue Lock follows a group of high school students who aim to reach the heights of the Japan’s Men’s National Team — but to do so they must ace the BLUE LOCK training program. The anime adaption debuted on Crunchyroll in October 2022 and currently consists of one season. This movie in particular centers around one student, Nagi Seishiro. Nagi never even considered playing soccer until his friend, Mikage Reo, discovered his hidden talent and insisted Nagi start playing. That led to an invitation to join the BLUE LOCK program, and from there, things started getting tough…. “That’s a hassle.” That was second-year high schooler Nagi Seishiro’s favorite phrase as he lived his dull life. Until Mikage Reo,

I had been following Blue Lock since the manga was first released, I'm thrilled about the upcoming movie. Nagi Seishiro is such a fascinating character. His laid-back attitude contrasting with his incredible talent makes for an engaging storyline. The trailer looks amazing, and I can't wait to see how they adapt the intense training sequences from the manga to the big screen. Plus, the English voice cast is stellar. I've been a fan of Bryson Baugus since his performance in Haikyuu!!

As a huge soccer fan, Blue Lock has been on my radar for a while. The concept of a rigorous training program to find the best striker for the national team is really intriguing. Nagi Seishiro’s story is particularly interesting because it’s about untapped potential and friendship. The idea that someone could just discover their talent because of a friend’s encouragement is inspiring. I’m curious to see how the movie captures the intensity and passion of the sport. With Crunchyroll bringing it to theaters, it’s a great time to be a soccer and anime fan.

I always prefer watching anime in English, so I’m thrilled that Blue Lock: The Movie -Episode Nagi- will be available in both sub and dub. The English voice cast is impressive, with Bryson Baugus and Kamen Casey taking on major roles. I’m curious to see how they bring Nagi and Reo to life. The story itself is compelling – a lazy genius finding his place in a high-pressure environment is something a lot of people can relate to. I’ll definitely be in the theater on June 28th to see how it all comes together.

Dude, this is FIRE! I've been waiting ages for more Blue Lock content, and a prequel movie on Nagi? Sign me up! The trailer looks insane, the animation seems way smoother than the first season, and finally, we get to see what makes Nagi tick. Who cares if it spoils a bit of his backstory, this deep dive is exactly what I need. June 28th can't come soon enough!

Don't get me wrong, I love Blue Lock, but this movie feels like a cash grab. We barely have season 2 news, and they're shoving out a prequel film? Plus, the trailer barely showed anything. If they're going to explore Nagi's character, make it count. Don't just give us a glorified highlight reel. Here's hoping the animation is actually good this time around, unlike the bumpy ride of season 1.

This movie could be a game-changer for Blue Lock. Nagi's a fascinating character, but the anime didn't delve as deep as it could have. If this prequel explores his motivations, training, and maybe even the relationship with Reo, it could add a whole new layer to the series. And yes, the animation absolutely needs an upgrade. The manga's action sequences deserve better translation to the screen. Here's to hoping Episode Nagi paves the way for a stellar season 2.

Nagi as the protagonist? This is a dream come true! The way they depict his movements and expressions in the trailer is already captivating. As an animation enthusiast, I'm cautious but hopeful. Blue Lock's potential is undeniable, but the first season's visuals fell short of the manga's brilliance. If Episode Nagi nails the animation and delivers a compelling Nagi story, it could be a turning point for the franchise. I'm curious to see his journey before Blue Lock and what made him such a powerhouse. The animation definitely needs improvement, though. I expect a movie to have higher quality visuals than a TV series, so hopefully, Episode Nagi delivers on that front.

What intrigues me most about Blue Lock: The Movie -Episode Nagi- is the story of personal growth and discovery. Nagi Seishiro’s transformation from someone who thinks everything is a hassle to a dedicated soccer player is a journey I’m eager to watch. It’s not just about soccer; it’s about realizing one’s potential and the impact of friendships. The relationship between Nagi and Mikage Reo seems central to the plot, and I’m interested to see how it unfolds. I think this movie will appeal to a wide audience, not just sports anime fans.
