What We Could Get Out Of Sony's May 30 State Of Play

Sony streamed a new State Of Play this afternoon at 3 Pacific. There was nothing earth-shattering about it, but traditionally the big announcements are saved for June, right? At least in this case, I hope so. This one was kind of a dud. A large portion of the State of Play was taken up by promotion for Concord, a team shooter due to launch in August (with a beta in July). I don’t know what they expected with this but “hit” is unlikely, given its stark resemblance to pre-existing IPs that have been worn out already. Gameplay is very much like Overwatch and characters / cutscenes are as close to Guardians of the Galaxy as you can get without summoning Disney lawyers. I feel sorry for whoever got stuck working on this uninspired thing. It’ll launch and then disappear. There were several “could have been an E-mail” trailers for re-releases. God Of War Ragnarok is coming to PC. Until Dawn is coming to PS5. We didn’t need three minutes for

Ugh, come on Sony. This State of Play was a total letdown. Remakes we already knew about and a generic shooter that's just copying others? Give me something new and innovative! At least Astro Bot looks fun, that little dude always delivers. Monster Hunter in 2025? Feels like a long wait, but hey, at least it's coming.

Hold up, Love Nikki getting a console game? That's unexpected, but intriguing! I love that mobile game, the outfits are amazing. Open world adventure with giant monsters? Sounds like a wild departure, but hey, I'm down for a good adventure game, especially with that fashion twist. Not sure if there's a huge demand, but hey, it could be a fun surprise!

Im hoping for more Capcom stuff that is not Monster Hunter. I want to see Street Fighter 6 Season 2,Resident evil 9 and Resident Evil Code Veronica remake.

Monster Hunter Wilds? Finally! The trailer looked stunning, can't wait to explore those vast landscapes and fight those epic creatures. New Astro Bot? Sign me up! That little robot always pushes the graphical envelope on Playstation. These two games alone might make owning a PS5 worth it. Here's hoping Sony has more graphical showcases coming soon.

Remakes? Bring 'em on! God of War on PC? Perfect excuse to replay that masterpiece. Until Dawn on PS5? Gotta experience those terrifying choices again with the power of the new console. Silent Hill 2 remake? Absolutely hyped to revisit that atmospheric horror classic with a fresh coat of paint. Maybe Sony knew exactly what us completionists craved!

Disappointed there wasn't more focus on indie games this time around. Sony's got a great stable of indies, would've loved to see some fresh ideas on the showcase. Maybe next time! Still, Monster Hunter and Astro Bot look great, so there's that to look forward to.

Not gonna lie, a bit bummed there wasn't more focus on narrative-driven games. Give me some trailers with rich characters and emotional stories! Still, curious about Love Nikki's console adventure. Maybe it'll have a surprisingly compelling story alongside the outfit collecting. Here's hoping for some story-rich reveals at E3!
