We have about a month to go before Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premieres on Netflix, and today at NYCC, the streamer debuted what would appear to be the ultimate trailer for the miniseries. You can’t top setting everything to the Mortal Kombat theme, so this is probably it until we get the actual show.

Well, it's more of a SoCal cartoon style, and not anime. Rather than calling it anime, they should have been more accurate and just labeled it as a cartoon. The characters in Scott Pilgrim have their unique look, which is faithful to the graphic novels, but I cannot personally classify this as an anime. It seems like they might be using the 'anime' label because it performs better on Netflix. Even if they include a Japanese dub, I'd still hesitate to call it anime due to its distinct SoCal cartoon art style.

"I really hope the Scott Pilgrim anime takes off and becomes a huge success. The potential of having more seasons and exploring the story beyond the first book or film is exciting. It's interesting to note how the original movie didn't perform well at the box office but still became a cult hit. If the anime gains a dedicated following, it could open the door to new content and adventures in the Scott Pilgrim universe, which would be a fantastic outcome."

To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I loved the Scott Pilgrim movie, but changing the story from the comic might be a risky move. It could be cool, or it could be a letdown. We'll see.

Kudos to the original cast for taking on roles that might be perceived as beneath their current status. These talented individuals have undoubtedly achieved significant success since their involvement in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, with several of them earning prestigious Oscars and becoming box office giants. Despite their substantial accomplishments, they've chosen to revisit roles from a movie that had a less impressive box office performance years ago

You're absolutely right! They didn't have to take on this animated project, given their massive stardom, but it's genuinely cool that they did.

I hope they make changes to Knives Chau's story in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. There's something uncomfortable about her relationship with Scott Pilgrim, given the age difference. She's just 17 years old, and it's a bit unsettling to see Scott dating someone so much younger. It might be a good idea to address this in the series by either making Scott younger or aging up Knives to her 20s for a more suitable dynamic.

I'm really optimistic that Scott Pilgrim Takes Off can give Michael Cera's career a much-needed boost. It's been quite some time since he had a leading role, and his recent appearance in the Barbie movie as Alan didn't allow him to shine as he used to. I'm hoping that this series can help rekindle his career and bring him the recognition he deserves.
