100 Years of Solitude coming to Netflix is coming to Netflix as a TV series. This novel is the magnum opus of the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. Before, Garcia Marquez was given the opportunity to put this into a movie, but he declined. His son decided to turn this book into a television series years after his passing in 2014. A TV series can do a novel that chronicles several generations of a family better justice. Such a rich lore cannot be adequately conveyed in an hour and a half long film.
One of the greatest works of literature ever written is 100 Years of Solitude. More than 46 different languages have versions of the book. In 1967, the book was first written in Spanish. It has sold more than 50 million copies. I once read a list of the top ten books that couldn’t be made into...

I don't ever envisioned Netflix would turn this into a show or movie. When I was fairly young, One Hundred Years of Solitude was one of my all-time favorite books. It was written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Technically, it's about a family that was cursed and passed down from father to son. I'm hoping they do the adaptation justice. I have no doubt that this will be fantastic.

Even though I don't like fantasy back then, someone recommended this book, so needless to say, I took it up anyhow. It's still one of my top 5 favorite books! It's awesome that they're turning it into a TV program! There would be a lot of artwork required to turn that into a video. I'm hoping they can do this one-of-a-kind novel justice.

Warning, A lot of rich Latin American families practices cousin incest to keep the riches within the family. This story have lots of it. At least its not siblings like Game of thrones.

When I was a college student, I read this book. One of my all-time favorite books. I'm enthralled by the storytelling and the magical realism in this wonderful book. I'll keep reading it until I pass away, You should read 100 years of Solitude. Great Book!

Given how strongly I feel about the book, I'm not sure whether I should be nervous or excited.
Netflix, on the other hand, appears to be the ideal location for it, given the level of creative freedom they provide showrunners. Rather than a multi-season show that can be canceled at any time, I prefer a limited series.

This may sound crazy but this novel reminds me a of Jojo's Bizarre adventure because of having a family member from a new generation lead a story arc.

Glad it's a TV show and not a movie; a movie version would be far too unfilmable, but a TV show can justify the book's magical realism.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is my all-time favorite book, but I have my doubts about how well this adaptation will turn out. Most of the characters are chronicled from their birth to their deaths. A book that size also contains a large number of characters. Even worse, they only share two names. What happens when we get to Arcadio IV or Aureliano number three? I don't think TV viewers will be able to follow that. It's challenging to even follow it in the book. The Book have 17th characters named Aureliano. What will they do after that? My guess is that they'll merge several characters into one, damaging the story and the spirit of the novel. In fact, it might defeat the entire point of the book because the repeated names are necessary to grasp the concept of cyclical time. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I don't think this will succeed.
