Blockbuster used to be the place to go when people wanted to rent movies and games. People have queued up to rent the newest releases from the Betamax period to the DVD age. My mother used to work at one of the branches when she was a senior in high school. By the time I was born, there was no more optical media rental in my town. We now live in an era where people don’t even download movies and music. People stream online now.
Blockbuster used to be a billion dollar company, but they made a mistake that Facebook didn’t. When Facebook noticed that Instagram was becoming bigger, they bought the company before it closed them down. The company this article talks about had the opportunity to by Netflix on it’s infancy but they decline. They thought renting movies will be forever. The company is not completely dead, There is one surviving branch at Bend, Oregon. Yes Even I cannot believe it but  People in Bend Oregon still like renting Physical copies...

Glad to see Randall having success after Fresh off the Boat, First he joined the MCU and now he is in another sitcom and he is playing a leading man instead of a dad. He is suddenly playing a younger character. I think this is also his first time to have an interracial onscreen partner.

Feelings of long-ago happiness are revived. You might spend what felt like hours as a kid just wandering up and down the aisles, reading the back of every case to find something you really wanted to watch. It seemed like every time you went to the video store, you picked out at least five movies, but they'd only let you rent one. A film I borrowed in 2002, The Blair Witch Project VHS I rented, remains unreturned. That day of closure always crept up on me because I simply plain forgot.

I spent so much time at BlockBuster as a kid! Other streaming services are not interchangeable with Netflix. There was a certain magic about browsing the VHS (or DVD) shelves at the store and deciding on a movie to watch. You didn't have time to procrastinate because it was due back so soon. Also, there were the films you'd stumble upon unexpectedly, with names you'd never heard of, but which would quickly become some of your favorites. Having this available on Netflix is like striking gold. For those who may have forgotten, in the early 2000s, Netflix offered Blockbuster to buy them for $2 million. The CEO then mocked the company's originators. After years of dominating the streaming industry, Netflix eventually made Blockbuster obsolete and is now worth billions. It's proof that it's important to keep going after what you want.

Oh wow, I long for the days when Blockbuster was still around. On Saturdays, my dad, siblings, and I would go to Chuck-E Cheese, where there was a Blockbuster just next door, and we'd each get to choose a movie to watch. However, I was able to rent two items: a movie and a video game. Those were the golden years, for real. These modern kids will never know what they're missing out on.

I cant relate because I am only 17. You guys seem to have a lot of nice memories. My Uncle regrets having VHS and DVD collection because they are now clutter on his house. Thanks to Netflix and iTunes, All I needed to be entertained is a TV, PC, a phone and blue tooth speaker.

In high school, I had a job at Blockbuster. Among the very greatest careers for a young person. When no supervisors are around, I get to go to the movies on the house. My experience working at Blockbuster was positive throughout high school, college, and beyond. It's a laid-back place to hang out and rent movies for free (five times a week).

I can't think of anything better than a Netflix show about one of their rivals.

@Carly Bitch, You will get old too. Also we people in our 40s are not that old. Life begins at 40. Your kids or nephews and nieces will ask you what is a TikTok?

In the future, a TV show titled Netflix will be produced by whatever entertainment service replaces Netflix.
