Both games have medieval instead of futuristic settings. They indeed looks like the same game. It will be a smart idea of release them years apart to avoid competing against each other.

Final Fantasy 9 will be my first game in the series. I played 7 and 8 after while I was waiting for Final Fantasy X. I never played 11 because I have no internet back then. I am also a fan of 12,13 and 15. I am not a fan of 14 because multiplayer is not my jam.

I think they wont be on this game but their hairstyles and clothing will be available for character creation so that will be the only way you will be playing as them.
