First Pics From The Legend Of Zelda Movie Are Out There

These first images of Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Zelda and Link are a bit of a mixed bag. I think Bo’s Zelda looks fine, but there’s something off about the look of Link. Maybe it’s the tunic? It doesn’t give me that “hero” vibe, especially when compared to how cool he looked in Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. The photo of Link holding a bow and standing on a meadow doesn’t exactly scream Hyrule to me. It’s just a bit underwhelming for now. I'm hoping the storyline will help fill in the gaps because I feel like the look alone isn’t doing enough.

It’s cool that they’re finally making a Zelda movie, but I feel like there’s a huge risk involved. The Zelda games are filled with depth and huge lore, and trying to cram that into a two-hour movie feels like a tough task. I’m already having some doubts based on what I’ve seen from the photos. The outfits, especially Link’s tunic, look a bit cheap, and I can’t help but wonder how this will translate to the big screen. Zelda’s bright blue costume feels fine, but I think they could have done something more unique with it.

Look, I’m excited about this Zelda movie, but I’m going to reserve judgment until I see more. There’s a lot of potential here, and New Zealand is such an obvious choice for shooting—so no complaints there. But as far as the characters go, I’m not blown away by these photos. Link and Zelda look fine, but the direction they’re going with the outfits? It’s too safe. These designs feel like they’re pulling directly from the games in a way that doesn’t make it feel new or exciting. I just hope the movie does something more than just present the same thing we already know.

Honestly, I’m not too sure what to think yet. The stills we’ve seen don’t give me enough to go on, but I can already tell the look of the characters might be the weakest part of the movie. Link’s outfit looks too basic, and Zelda’s clothes are very close to Breath of the Wild, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The whole movie could work, but we need more than just looking like the game. Zelda is such a rich world, and I hope they don’t end up focusing too much on fan service and ignoring the potential of the storyline.

So far, I'm feeling a bit mixed about the Zelda movie. While I do think the actors look okay in their roles, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by the set photos. Link’s green tunic seems a bit too simple, and Zelda’s blue outfit doesn’t seem like it adds anything new. I’m a bit worried they’re playing it too safe, relying too much on what people already know from the games. But hey, it’s still early, and it’s possible that as the movie progresses, things will start to feel more dynamic. I’ll just be watching closely.

Seeing the Zelda movie photos gets me thinking: how much of the game’s lore will actually make it to the screen? Right now, from the stills, it feels like they’re trying to combine a few elements from the Zelda series, but I’m wondering if that will pay off. Link’s tunic is too basic for my taste, and Zelda’s costume is just a bit too safe. I don’t know how I feel about the lack of major changes to their designs. I’m hoping they bring some new angles to the characters to make this movie stand out.
