First Look At WandaVision’s Agatha Spinoff

Disney+‘s Marvel content got off to a very strong start with the imaginative, innovative WandaVision…and then it was gradually downhill from there. But Marvel is finally putting some of the better shows on physical media, starting tomorrow with the one that started it all. You can pop the discs in and relive the mystery, the media satire and the exhilaration of finally seeing the MCU Wanda fully transform into the Scarlet Witch of the comics (y’know, before the movies screwed that up).

The WandaVision Blu-Ray set will include several bonus features, but one can be viewed for free right now. It’s the first-ever look at Agatha, the WandaVision spinoff now in development. Disney rightly assumed someone was going to upload this preview online anyway, so they might as well do it themselves.

Spoilers for those who haven’t seen the original show: Wanda’s quirky neighbor Agnes (played by Kathryn Hahn) was revealed to be the evil sorceress Agatha who planned to steal all of Wanda’s power to add it to her own. Despite not being aware she was an actual witch until a few minutes prior, Wanda was strong enough to push back and regain her sanity, at least for the time being. Agatha was turned back into Agnes and trapped in the sitcom world. But she apparently gets out to get her own show.

“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” says co-executive producer Mary Livanos. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives.”

The Agatha show has gone through several subtitles. Currently it’s called “Darkhold Diaries,” but who knows what it’ll be in the future. We have a full year to go until its release. The WandaVision Blu-Ray set will be out tomorrow, November 28.

The Agatha all along song is still stock on me head, She is suppose to be a villain so I don't know how a spin off of her works.

I couldn't agree more with co-executive producer Mary Livanos about the depth of Agatha's character. It's always fascinating when the MCU takes the time to develop the complexities of its villains. Can't wait to see how they unravel Agatha's story and what makes her tick.

Oh, come on now! Seriously? A whole spinoff for Agatha? What's next, a show about the toaster from WandaVision? I get that characters need development, but Agatha? She killed Sparky, the poor puppy! No spinoff can make me forget that. And don't even get me started on the subtitle changes. "Darkhold Diaries"? Sounds like a bad goth band name. Marvel needs to get their priorities straight and give us content that we actually care about, not Agatha and her so-called "depth" and "danger."

Exploring characters beyond the main protagonists is a welcome trend, and it seems like Agatha's story will be both deep and dangerous. The decision to release a preview for the Agatha spinoff ahead of the Blu-Ray set is a smart move by Disney. It builds anticipation and gives fans a taste of what's to come. I'm definitely checking that out right away!
