Disney+‘s Marvel content got off to a very strong start with the imaginative, innovative WandaVision…and then it was gradually downhill from there. But Marvel is finally putting some of the better shows on physical media, starting tomorrow with the one that started it all. You can pop the discs in and relive the mystery, the media satire and the exhilaration of finally seeing the MCU Wanda fully transform into the Scarlet Witch of the comics (y’know, before the movies screwed that up).
The WandaVision Blu-Ray set will include several bonus features, but one can be viewed for free right now. It’s the first-ever look at Agatha, the WandaVision spinoff now in development. Disney rightly assumed someone was going to upload this preview online anyway, so they might as well do it themselves.
Spoilers for those who haven’t seen the original show: Wanda’s quirky neighbor Agnes (played by Kathryn Hahn) was revealed to be the evil sorceress Agatha who planned to steal all of Wanda’s power to add it to her own. Despite not being aware she was an actual witch until a few minutes prior, Wanda was strong enough to push back and regain her sanity, at least for the time being. Agatha was turned back into Agnes and trapped in the sitcom world. But she apparently gets out to get her own show.
“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” says co-executive producer Mary Livanos. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives.”
The Agatha show has gone through several subtitles. Currently it’s called “Darkhold Diaries,” but who knows what it’ll be in the future. We have a full year to go until its release. The WandaVision Blu-Ray set will be out tomorrow, November 28.
