First Clip From X-Men 97 Released

In 2021 Disney+ made an unexpected announcement — check that, an unX-pected announcement. The 1990s X-Men cartoon, a massive hit in its day running five seasons on Fox Kids, would be resurrected to continue right where it left off. Direct from 1997, it’s X-Men 97!

Today the first full clip from the series was released…which is cutting it rather close as the actual show premieres in less than a week. The series ended with the apparent death of Professor X and the passing of the torch to Cyclops as the new leader of the X-Men. One thing about those final episodes is that the show’s budget was reduced, so the animation took a hit. As you can see from this clip, it’s received quite the glow-up from there….

If only it could’ve looked like this back then. The Sentinels are after the mutants again, and the whole gang is here to fight them, even Morph and Bishop, who only showed up on occasion. One cast member that WON’T be there? Showrunner Beau DeMayo. After writing many of the scripts for the first two seasons and coming up with the idea to bring the series back in the first place, he’s been fired. There has been no word from DeMayo or Disney as to what happened.

X-Men 97 stars the voices of Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, George Buza as Beast, Lenore Zann as Rogue, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, JP Karliak as Morph, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop and Matthew Waterson as Magneto. The show will premiere Wednesday, March 20 on Disney+.

Wow, it's nostalgic seeing the X-Men gang back in action! The animation in this clip looks amazing; it's like they've stepped right out of the '90s and into our screens today. But firing the showrunner? That's definitely raising some eyebrows. I wonder what went down behind the scenes. Regardless, I can't wait to binge-watch this series when it drops on Disney+.

Remember when X-Men ruled the superhero scene, long before the Avengers assembled on the big screen? It's incredible how much the landscape has changed since then. But with X-Men '97 making a comeback, who knows? Maybe we'll see a resurgence of mutant mania once again!

Seeing the X-Men in action again brings back so many memories! The animation upgrade is a welcome change, giving the series a modern twist while staying true to its roots. But hearing about Beau DeMayo's firing is a bit unsettling. I wonder how it will impact the show's direction. Nevertheless, I'm eager to see where X-Men '97 takes us on its journey back to the '90s.X-Men '97 looks promising with its revamped animation and familiar cast of characters. It's a shame about Beau DeMayo's departure, though. I hope it doesn't affect the storytelling or overall quality of the series. Nonetheless, I'm ready to relive my childhood when the show premieres on Disney+.

The first glimpse of X-Men '97 has me feeling all sorts of excitement! The animation overhaul looks fantastic, breathing new life into the iconic series. However, the news of Beau DeMayo's exit is concerning. I hope it doesn't disrupt the show's continuity or vision. Despite the setback, I'm optimistic about the revival and can't wait to embark on this nostalgic journey once again. Bring on the mutants!
