Final Fantasy Trading Card Game Ships 110 Million Worldwide
Final Fantasy is one of the most respected franchises in gaming, but it’s also done a lot of other things too, including making movies and having a hit trading card game, which Square Enix revealed has hit a huge milestone.
“With the recent release of the FINAL FANTASY® Trading Card Game (“FFTCG”) Series “Opus IV” card set, SQUARE ENIX® announced that the series has shipped over 110 million cards worldwide.
The latest wave in the series, the “Opus IV” card set introduces newly illustrated card designs based on beloved games from the FINAL FANTASY franchise, including FINAL FANTASY VI, FINAL FANTASY TACTICS ADVANCE® and FINAL FANTASY Theatrhythm™. The set also incorporates new “Monster” type cards, which feature different abilities and play styles for fans to utilize.
The FINAL FANTASY TRADING CARD GAME Opus Series also held its first world championships at the Square Enix Headquarters in Tokyo on November 18th to 19th. Leading up to the event, regional tournaments were conducted across Japan, Europe, Oceania and North America, where over 2000 people participated. Four of the game’s first ever North American Champions from the inaugural championship in September 2017 also qualified to attend and take part in the world finals as regional representatives.
