If you were a festival owner, would you be a tycoon right now? Most likely not. But the appeal of video games is the chance to pretend, and with that in mind, we present Festival Tycoon, a building sim game coming soon from indie developer Johannes Gäbler.
There’s a lot more involved in organizing a festival than most people realize. You must book talent, set up stages, lay out the venue in a non-confusing manner, provide tasty snacks and plenty of outhouses for when those snacks go wrong…more than we have space or time to list. If your festival is enough of a success, you’ll be able to host more of them, maybe in multiple locations.
Want to play a free demo of Festival Tycoon? Good thing Steam Game Festival is underway — you can pick one up here. You’ll be in charge of a music festival in the demo, and given complete freedom over its development. “Players will be able to create, design, and manage their own music festival empire, starting from humble beginnings in tiny fields to a Coachella-sized event,” the official description promises.
? Design the optimal festival layout: Place tents, VIP bungalows, glamorous stages, portaloos, festival decorations and more!
?Book talent and arrange a stellar line-up: Put your bargaining skills and musical taste to the test by hiring a range of bands across the likes of folk, rock and techno.
? Attract sponsors and sell tickets: Appease sponsors like banks, record labels and drink companies for grants.
? Keep the crowds happy: Be wary of your attendees’ satisfaction, as unhappy punters are quick to take to social media and ruin your reputation!
The full version of Festival Tycoon is coming later this year to Steam.
