Fast & Furious Is Getting A Spinoff
One of the hottest franchises in Hollywood right now is without a doubt Fast & Furious. The series has been on a roll since a return to form in its fourth film, and even with the loss of co-stars like Paul Walker, the series continues to make a lot of money at the box office. So much so that the recent film seemed to indicate a spinoff was coming featuring two of the characters.
Now, we know that is true, as the Hollywood Reporter notes the film is going to be coming in 2019. And this seems to confirm why the main series movie was pushed back until 2020, to make room for this spinoff.
As predicted, the film will focus on Dwayne Johnson’s Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Statham’s reformed villain Deckard Shaw, who were put together in Fate of the Furious and charmed a lot of people.
“Fast & Furious is one of Universal’s most beloved properties, and we handle every decision we make surrounding this franchise with great care,” Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley told THR. “The global brand of Fast & Furious is strong and full of iconic characters, and we look forward to continuing to build on the film that started it all, as well as expanding into different narratives beginning with our first spinoff.”
The film will release July 26th, 2019.
