Ellen DeGeneres Make a Comeback in a Netflix Comedy Special

Ellen DeGeneres is proof that you should never say never.

To be honest, even though the jokes of Ellen DeGeneres did make me laugh sometimes, I’ve never been a fan. I would tune in to the beginning of her talk show and watch until the music started playing and she danced. Of course, Ms. Generes complained that she was getting too old to be dancing so they allowed that nice man called Twitch to do the dancing. His suicide was a terrible shock to everyone. But let’s not get off topic. This is about Ellen DeGeneres being reborn via a Netflix Comedy Special.

Her humor is still sharp and witty. I don’t know if, in real life, she is kind or unkind. But I do know that in the entertainment industry, you can fall from grace in less than half of a nanosecond. Yeah! It’s that fast. But if you have a “guardian angel”, they can help you get your wings back. Evidently, the guardian angel for Ellen DeGeneres is Netflix.

This is her first stand-up performance in six years and she talks about what people want to hear, i.e. what has she been doing to make a living OR was her “exile period” a time for self-reflection? Considering the controversy about her “fake kindness”, why would Netflix sign a deal? Really? Are you asking because you really don’t know? Let’s face it. Ms. DeGeneres had a significant fan base and some people were likely waiting patiently for her to come back. Also, part of Netflix’s strategy for attracting more subscribers involves investing in diverse genres and well-known personalities. People have not forgotten about Ellen DeGeneres and people still like to laugh. I mean … she said she was too old to dance. But she still has enough spring in her step to do other things, like a stand-up comedy routine.

I’m all for people with talent remaining gainfully employed. Welcome back, Ms. Degeneres!
