We now know what Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation have in mind for their next TV series. It’s been a while since Dragon Ball Super, but that show upped the ante to the point that the Dragon Balls were as large as planets, so where do you go from there? Apparently, you go smaller….a LOT smaller.
In Dragon Ball Daima, Goku and Vegeta turn into baby versions of themselves! Nope, not kidding. See the screenshots and video. We have no idea what the explanation for this is; Toriyama is keeping his lips shut for now. “There are some things I can’t say but one thing I can tell you is [in] this production Akira Toriyama has been deeply involved beyond his usual capacity overseeing the original work, story, character design, and more,” hints executive producer Akio Iyoku. “Additionally, [he] has planned entirely new episodes for the storyline so please look forward to the start of the series.”
What does the title mean? Who’s Daima and how do they have the power to chibi-fy everyone? Actually “daima” is a Japanese word that loosely translates to “large.” It appears to have been picked ironically as the people, Saiyans and assorted androids in this series are anything but that.
We should learn more about Dragon Ball Daima as its release date gets closer. Unfortunately that date is a year out, so it may be a while, but as the trailer proves, they’ve got SOME work on the series done…
