DOOM: Double XP Weekend and New Update
Bethesda Softworks has revealed some new details on the upcoming free update for DOOM starting July 29. Bethesda also confirmed a Double XP weekend that will be running from the game from July 29 starting at 12:00 pm EST. The Double XP weekend will officially end on Monday, August 1 at 12:00 pm EST. Features for the update include two new multiplayer modes: Exodus, a one-flag capture-the-flag mode with constantly moving bases and flags; and Sector, an objective-based capture-and-hold mode where players have to take complete control of zones and hold them to score points.
For Snap Map, the update adds customizable weapon wheel functionality, in order for players to carry and select multiple weapons; jump pads with logic to set distance, speed and direction; 30 brand-new Hell-themed modules; an expanded weapon list; and a new playable demon, the Mancubus. Also, the update features a number of improvements to the Community HUB, editor and logic capabilities.
In addition, the upcoming DLC for DOOM, Unto the Evil, is set to launch on August 5 for all platforms for which the game is available. This marks a new premium multiplayer DLC will be priced at $14.99. It will add the following features to the multiplayer mode in the game:
- Three new multiplayer maps: Offering, Cataclysm, and Ritual
- A new player-controlled demon: Harvester
- A new weapon: UAC EMG Pistol
- New equipment: Kinetic Mine
- New ways to customize your DOOM Marine, including additional armor sets, patterns, colors, and taunts
- New hack modules
DOOM is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
