Has Destiny Sprung A Leak?
It appears that there’s been some bad news for Activision and Bungie’s $500 million game; it appears that Destiny‘s final game information, or at least partial data, has leaked onto the internet. With around six weeks left to go before launch and following the end of the public Destiny beta, it will be a story about the game no-one at Activision or Bungie will want to read.
Originating on Reddit (click here for the full thread), the information given offers a suggestion of the amount of missions, planets and other activities we can expect to see in the final game build. It’s worth pointing out that the original poster is unclear on some of the information, specifically being unsure if some of the missions and activities are duplicates and/or variants. For example, there are 5 instances of the Tower hub listed but it’s unclear if this area changes due to events or is an exact replica.
Here’s the breakdown of what the post suggests will be in the final version of Destiny;
- Exploration Missions: 5 (4 Known + 1 Duplicate; Earth, Moon, Venus, Mars)
- Story Missions: 32 (23 Known, 8 Unknown)
- Skirmishes: 16 (2 Duplicates)
- Raids: 2 (Expected duplicate)
- Strike Missions: 23 (5 Nightfall, 6 Normal, 3 Vanguard, Duplicates)
- Story Challenges: 1
- Iron Banner: 1
- Combined Arms: 1
- The Crucible: 4 (2 Unknown, 2 Duplicate)
- Multiplayer Clash: 13
- Multiplayer Salvage: 13
- Multiplayer Rumble: 15
- Multiplayer Control: 17 (3 Duplicate)
It’s also worth noting that this information was mined from data within the beta build of Destiny; it’s entirely possible there is, or will be, more to add to this than currently listed. If Bungie had other planets and locations, but no intention of showing them in the beta, it would make sense they stripped the info from the files to decrease download size.
The 5 exploration missions listed, for example, showcase Earth, The Moon, Venus and Mars and one duplicate. All four of these locations were accessible to some effect in the beta. Earth was where the main bulk of the action took place, with the Moon opening up at the end of the beta. Both Mars and Venus were accessible through The Crucible.
What do you make of the supposed information leak? Are you disappointed by this list if it does turn out to be correct? Let us know on the forums.
