Dear David, Viral Twitter thread turned horror movie

Dear David is the second time a Twitter thread becomes a movie. The first one is Zola  which is a black comedy based from the experience and Twitter rant of a Hooters Waitress and her fall out with her friend. It stars Augustus Prew, Andrea Bang and Justin Long, as Bryce, the head of Buzzfeed.

Dear David (Do not confuse it with a Thai romance movie with the same title.) though is different. It was based from a live tweet of  Adam Ellis who is tweeting  the events as he gets haunted. He gets to live to tell the tale so Lionsgate offered him to turn his nightmarish experience. I feel uncomfortable as I write this article because I feel like the thumbnail of the dented head boy is staring at me.

Dear David Official trailer

Before we talk about the plot,  Let’s talk about the first few pages of the tweet that started it all. In August 7 2017, Adam tweeted this

disturbing experience after he just woke up from Sleep paralysis. He detailed everything he experienced on that night.

You can read the full thread on his official twitter but that might spoil you about the movie.

Adam Ellis(Augustus Prew) is makes online webcomics that got viral and gave him a fanbase. His fanbase turn on him when he started working for Buzzfeed. Yes that Buzzfeed. His work friend  Evelyn (Andrea Bang) told him to ignore the trolls.

When people online started turning on him, he decided to fight back against the trolls and shades them back.  One of the haters he insulted is D____David.  He told him why are you so mean?. He just laughed because it seemed like he hurts the feelings of one of his critics.

He have no idea that Ghosts uses internet now. While he is sleeping, his eyes open and he can’t move. he is having a sleep paralysis. He got visit from David.(Cameron Nicoll) A deformed little boy who got hurt from his tweet. David have a dented head and it seem like he has one mission and that is to kill Adam. He want to end the haunting so he decided to investigate David’s origin.
