Crystar Coming To PS4 August 27
Spike Chunsoft will be releasing the JRPG Crystar in the States on August 27. A European release will happen three days later.
The game’s protagonist, Rei, takes the term “sob story” to new heights. One unfortunate afternoon a demon grabs her and drags her into Purgatory, where she has to fight monsters to get out. She succeeds, and through the experience wakes back into the living world with incredible powers. That would be the end of most stories, but it’s just the opening act of this one: because of these powers she winds up killing her little sister. Oops.
Well, she knows where to go now. Returning to Purgatory on a mission to get her sister back, she signs a contract with the head demons to serve as an Executor and fight monsters for them. And as she journeys down and down the levels, she cries. And cries. A lot. As anyone would, but in this case crying supercharges Rei’s powers and gives her the strength to take down anything. In fact the entire game is built around crying. It’s called CRYstar.
Fight through Your Tears in This Action RPG – Combat the Souls of the dead as you explore the afterworld of Purgatory. Play as four different characters and unlock their memories to learn the truth behind their stories and secrets.
Power through Grief – The battle system includes an otherworldly being who fights alongside you. Gather your grief and endure Torments to summon your Guardian!
Tears Give You Strength – Crying will help you take down monsters and empower your equipment. In CRYSTAR, tears aren’t a sign of weakness, but of strength.
Crystar is now available for pre-purchase digitally in the Playstation Store. The Day One edition will include a mini artbook and the Summer Collection Costume DLC. A preorder guarantees that you’ll get this version, but plenty of Day One copies will also be available the first week.
