Nyaight of the Living Cat

Crunchyroll Posts Summer English Dub Schedule

Crunchyroll tries these days to get as many of their new anime to present day-of-premiere English dubs, but it’s not always possible. Some of their high-profile shows instantly had dubs available, and some didn’t. Crunchy sent us a note saying they’re working overtime to catch up and make sure all their summer anime have a dub version.

Dan Da Dan, Cleavatess, Gatchiakuta, Kaiju No. 8 and the return of Dr. Stone all had same-day dubs. In the weeks to come they’ll be joined by catch-up dubs for Reborn as a Vending Machine, Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse, The Water Magician and Secrets of the Silent Witch, the latter of which will offer three English dub episodes in one week. The most neglected anime here has been Nyaight of the Living Cat, which finally got its dub version going yesterday.

I’ve been waiting for the dub of Nyaight of the Living Cat for so long. I don’t really like watching subbed anime because I usually eat or do other stuff while watching. I saw the first subbed episode and thought it was funny, but I didn’t want to continue until the dub was out. I’m glad Crunchyroll finally added it. I don’t mind waiting a bit, but I do think they should be more clear when a dub is coming. Sometimes it feels random. Like why did Dan Da Dan get a same-day dub, but this one took weeks? Anyway, I’m just happy I can finally watch it. I hope the voice actors fit the tone, because this show is weird in a fun way. And cats.

This schedule shows improvement from Crunchyroll’s previous handling of seasonal dubs. The focus on same-day English dub releases for bigger titles like Kaiju No. 8 and Dr. Stone demonstrates an effort to keep global audiences engaged. However, it’s still a bit uneven. Series like Nyaight of the Living Cat and Secrets of the Silent Witch were delayed, which suggests resource allocation issues or low prioritization based on perceived popularity. I think Crunchyroll needs to better communicate why some dubs are delayed while others are not. It would help if they posted a timeline for “in-progress” dubs like Lord of Mysteries. Transparency is important for fans who rely on dubs. Overall, it’s a good step forward, but the inconsistency is still noticeable.

I’m a bit annoyed. Crunchyroll has been around long enough that delays like this shouldn’t happen anymore. We keep hearing “we’re working on it,” but some shows still go weeks with no dub. I was excited about The Water Magician, and now it’s barely catching up. I don’t even want to start watching unless the dub is finished. I get that not everything can be same-day, but they should manage expectations better. Maybe don’t premiere 30 shows at once if you can’t handle it? The anime industry is growing, and so is Crunchyroll’s money. They can hire more voice actors and mixers. That’s all I’m saying.

So Nyaight of the Living Cat finally got its dub? Miracles do happen. I thought Crunchyroll forgot it existed. I’ve been refreshing the page every Sunday just to be disappointed over and over. I know it's not the most important anime in the world, but come on—cats and zombies? That’s comedy gold. Anyway, now that it's here, I’ll give it a proper watch. I just hope they don’t mess up the cat voices. If I hear one weird meow, I’m dropping it.

I read the manga of Gachiakuta and Clevatess, so I’m very happy the dubs are out already. I like to experience the anime version after finishing the source. It gives me a new feeling, especially with the voice acting and music. That’s why I need the dub to be good. I don’t want the emotions I read to feel flat in the anime. It’s good that Crunchyroll is making progress, but I agree with others: they need to speed up the rest. Some anime have strong stories that get ignored if the dub is late.

I love that Witch Watch releases at 1:30 AM. I’m always awake at that time, and it gives me something new to look forward to when everything else is asleep. I hope they keep doing more late-night dub drops like that. Also, shoutout to Crunchyroll for giving TO BE HERO X same-day dubs every week. That show is weird but so entertaining. Still waiting on Toilet-bound Hanako-kun though. Please don’t make me wait until fall.

This is so helpful! I’m in high school and don’t have a lot of time to keep checking every anime. Now I can set reminders for when the dubs I want come out. I already watched Dan Da Dan season one in dub, so I’m glad season two is out too. I’m also curious about Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse. I didn’t try it yet because I wanted to wait for the dub. Thanks Crunchyroll for catching up. Can you please dub Hanako-kun soon too? My friends and I are waiting!

I’ve been watching anime since the VHS days, so seeing all these titles dubbed so quickly still surprises me. Back then, we had to wait a year for anything to be dubbed. Now it’s one week or even the same day. That’s progress. Still, I miss physical media. Crunchyroll should consider releasing some of these dubbed series on Blu-ray. I’d buy Kaiju No. 8 and Dan Da Dan in a heartbeat. Streaming is convenient, but collectors like me still want something we can hold and keep.
