Critical Role’s Third Campaign Ends Tonight

Critical Role‘s epic campaigns are not exactly bite-sized. In all the years they’ve been doing this, there have been only three: Vox Machina, Mighty Nein and Bells Hells, though all of them take place within the same world (Exandria). These storylines take over three years to complete and a true finale comes along about as often as the Olympics.

So the fact that Bells Hells is ending TONIGHT is kind of a big deal, and Critical Role knows it…they plan to be up for eight hours starting at 7 PM Pacific / 10 PM Eastern. They’re gonna end this campaign if it kills them…or if they fall asleep first. But with proper doses of caffeine they should be fine.

You might want to get there early: there will be a live”Tale Gate Party” at 6 PM PT where the cast will answer questions, share their thoughts on the journey, and celebrate with the community. “This finale for Campaign 3 marks the end of one very epic chapter of Exandrian history,” said Marisha Ray, Creative Director, cast member and co-founder of Critical Role. “But while we celebrate the end of this chapter, I think it’s important to know that the story continues with a simple turn of the page. I’m very excited to see what happens next in this story that remains to be written by the incredible emergent storytellers who are picking up the pen.”

After this, there are typically breaks of a few months between major campaigns. You may have to wait a bit to find out which roles our actors will be stepping into next, but in the meantime, expect filler arcs like Exandria Unlimited: Divergence, a four-part saga that delves into one of Exandria’s most pivotal moments, the departure of the Prime Deities in the wake of the Calamity. It’ll star Matthew Mercer, Liam O’Brien, Jasmine Don, Alex Ward, and Celia Rose Gooding, with Brennan Lee Mulligan (yes, he’s from Dimension 20…no competition or rivalry here) serving as Game Master.

You can watch any Critical Role event through three venues: their membership service Beacon (beacon.tv), the CR Twitch channel (twitch.tv/criticalrole) and their YouTube page (youtube.com/criticalrole).

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of Campaign 3. It feels like just yesterday that Bells Hells was introduced, and now we’re about to say goodbye. I’ve been watching Critical Role since Vox Machina, and every campaign finale feels like closing a book on something truly special. The sheer amount of storytelling, character development, and improvisational brilliance over these three years is unmatched.
I’m definitely tuning in for the finale, but I’m also excited about what’s next. Exandria Unlimited: Divergence sounds promising, and Brennan as the GM is going to be a treat. I love that there’s no sense of competition between Dimension 20 and CR—just mutual respect and a love of the game. Can’t wait to see what Mercer and the team have planned for Campaign 4.

I’ve followed Critical Role on and off, but even from the sidelines, it’s hard not to admire what they’ve built. Campaigns lasting three years? That’s serious commitment. I respect anyone who can keep up with every episode because that’s hundreds of hours of content. That said, I might check out the finale just to see how they wrap things up. I like that they do these big send-offs and make it feel like a true event. Maybe I’ll finally go back and watch the earlier episodes I missed.

This is what I love about Critical Role—the sense of community and shared storytelling. It’s not just about the dice rolls or the battles, but the emotional depth and connections we’ve built with these characters. The fact that so many people are coming together to celebrate the end of Bells Hells just shows how impactful these stories are.
And Marisha is right—the story doesn’t end here. It keeps evolving with the fans, new players, and future campaigns. I’m excited for what’s next!

I like that they take breaks between campaigns. Gives people a chance to breathe, catch up, and get hyped for whatever’s next.

So excited for Exandria Unlimited: Divergence as I am for the finale! The Calamity and the departure of the Prime Deities are some of the most fascinating parts of Exandria’s history. Seeing that era explored with Brennan at the helm is going to be incredible.
Of course, I’ll be there for the Bells Hells finale too. It’s been an amazing journey, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends. But knowing there’s more Exandria content on the way makes saying goodbye a little easier.
