Critical Role Campaign 4 Begins Today

Just a friendly reminder that tonight’s the night. Critical Role‘s fourth campaign begins at dusk, and it treads new territory in many ways. For one, it takes place in a different world, Aramán, instead of Exandria…and at 13 players, this is the largest ensemble of any CR campaign. Plus it’s being led by a new GM: Brennan Lee Mulligan. It’s anyone’s guess what we’re in for now.

Hero to many. Enemy to some. When Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate. In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined. As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown for themselves?

Campaign 4 will utilize a West Marches–style structure with rotating tables, and the first four episodes will be the “Overture,” acting as an introduction to the new world and its characters through intersecting scenes. They will split into three groups at the end though, the Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers – and that change will last for the rest of the campaign, albeit with overarching themes tying things together.

Critical Role’s Campaign 4 premieres on Beacon.tv, Critical Role’s YouTube and Twitch channels Thursday, October 2 at 7 PM, with the VOD available for everyone the following Monday. Podcast episodes will be available in two parts: the first one week after the premiere, and the second on the following Tuesday. Beacon members will get a bonus: Critical Role Cooldown for Campaign 4, a post-show series starring the cast.
