Square Enix Reveals New RPG – Project Prelude Rune
Square Enix has revealed they are producing a brand new role-playing game in the form of Project Prelude Rune. Helmed by former Bandai Namco producer Hideo Baba, who is known for his work on the Tales franchise, it currently has no release date or announced platforms.
“The project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life,” Square Enix said in a statement. “Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just — and this is their tale.”
The game will be the first produced by a new development team located in Tokyo called Studio Istolia. This name is derived from the Greek word for “story”, suggesting that the studio will be producing plot-heavy games. Square Enix explained: “The aim of the studio is to provide unforgettable stories that will inspire players in their own lives, and bring new game experiences to everyone around the world.”
The publisher also released several pieces of concept art, which can be seen in the gallery below, which suggest that the game is still very early in development. This is backed up by the fact that the studio is hiring across a range of positions, including artists, designers, and programmers.
