Activision and Treyarch have revealed a new gameplay mode that’s coming to Call of Duty Black Ops III called Free Run. The new mode was revealed earlier this week during a Black Ops Fridays livestream video, which you can check out in the player below. Per the announcement, Free Run is an asymmetrical gameplay mode that challenges players to use the game’s new movement abilities over various courses. The courses will become more difficult as you progress and can become quite punishing.
Free Run will be available for the game right away at launch, and it will not need to be unlocked. As Gamespot noted, the mode is similar to the time trial course full of challenges from the Titanfall franchise. A new gameplay mode for the game is definitely a plus. Adding a sort of parkour mode to allow a different outlet for players to use their augmented cyber abilities is an interesting prospect for Call of Duty Black Ops III. Implementation and execution of the Free Run mode will be crucial to how successful it is among the Call of Duty faithful though.
Call of Duty Black Ops III launches next month. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC on November 6.
