‘Mech’ games are a bit of a rarity these days. This generation has a rather short list of poorly designed games that haven’t really given fans of the genre what they deserve.
Perhaps the mega-corporations feel they deserve to get paid based solely off of how big their name is, so lets see what kind of game the small developer Adhesive games can produce; a studio with less than 10 total employees.
Developed using the Unreal Development Kit, Hawken is a free-to-play ‘mech’ based game with an emphasis on fast-paced gameplay. Set in a human colonized planet that has been industrialized to the point of collapse, the hunt for resources has become a battle for survival. There are four game modes planned; Team and Free-for-all Deathmatch, ‘Siege’, as well as another unspecified mode that hasn’t been revealed. There will be no campaign mode, only online-multiplayer. Adhesive Games is currently enlisting for beta.
