Blasphemous and Bloodstained: Together At Last
Blasphemous is a fast-paced, hard-as-nails action platformer that was released to consoles and PC in 2019. It’s been updated sporadically since then…The Stir Of Dawn, a free DLC upgrade that added more bosses and a new story path among other things, was released last August. Now the game has been updated again, and you won’t believe with what.
A new visitor has arrived in Cvstodia….Miriam, as in the protagonist of Iga’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night! She’s somehow crossed games and doesn’t know how to get back! So she seeks the help of The Penitent One, and the two set off on a new quest the developers call…Strife & Ruin.
Tasked with helping Miriam return to her world, players must complete a series of platforming challenges and collect shards to repair her portal home. Filled with traps that force the player to hone their precision platforming abilities, those who pass the test and help Miriam return to her world will have a special reward bestowed upon them.
That’s not all…Sprife & Ruin also adds a new Boss Rush Mode to the game, which you can access after completing the main storyline. You can also now find a hidden arcade cabinet somewhere in Cvstodia that transports you to a “Demake Area” inspired by 8-bit platformers. If you get a little too used to the retro version of Blasphemous, there are several new render modes added to the game that emulate the effects of old TVs.
Blasphemous is available now for Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC, as is Bloodstained.
