After the project was leaked and rumored for weeks, Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Entertainment have officially announced a Batman: Arkham collection for the next-gen consoles. Titled Batman: Return to Arkham, the compilation will feature both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, which will both be remastered for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The collection will be available later this summer.
Both of the iconic, classic Batman games, developed by Rocksteady Studios, will be remastered for the current console generation using the Unreal Engine 4, which is a first for the series. Both games are being remastered by Virtuous. The set will include all the Game of the Year edition bonus and downloadable content for both games, which will feature enhanced graphics, upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders.
The bad news? As previously expected, the set is not going to include Batman: Arkham Origins, which was developed by WB Games Montreal and released in 2013. Unfortunately, fans hoping for a remastered version of that game will not get that version here. It would’ve been better if the collection included that game as well, despite its flaws.
The Batman: Return to Arkham set will be available on July 26. The collection features both games for the price of $49.99. It’s available to pre-order now. You can check out the announcement trailer for the collection in the player below.
