Batman: Bad Seeds Announced By DC

As you can tell from the cover image above, Gotham City is in rough shape these days…but this time, we can put the blame on Gotham voters. They’re the ones who elected POISON IVY as mayor. She ran on the Face-Eating Venus Flytrap party, and nobody figured the Venus Flytraps would be eating their faces.

So now the Bat-Family has a big mess to clean up, which they’ll be doing in Batman: Bad Seeds, a crossover across all the Bat-titles starting in August. Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson are called the “showrunners” of the main story, but chapters will appear by the respective writers and artists behind Detective Comics, Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman, Nightwing and Harley Quinn.

The floral takeover of Gotham begins August 26 with a prelude story in Poison Ivy #47. Ivy’s job as mayor hasn’t been exactly spotless, and the people who put her in now want her out. “Well too bad, I control plant life,” she insists, and the vines start spreading across buildings, through pipes, out of toilets… The prelude will be written by G. Willow Wilson with art by Leandro Fernandez.

The same day as the prelude, Batman: Bad Seeds, Sunset #1 will be released. According to DC “Gotham City’s mayor, Pamela Isley, deserted by her allies both political and arcane, is about to make a last-ditch power play that will leave Gotham decimated by daybreak. Having already declared war on the Bat-Family and flooded the streets with his private, paramilitarized police army, Police Commissioner Vandal Savage sees an opportunity to solve two problems at once!” This first issue is written by Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson with art and cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Cliff Rathburn and Tomeu Morey. ariant covers are by Dan Mora, Marcio Takara, Jorge Jiménez and Jeff Spokes.

This is a viney dilemma that will take a season to untangle. Batman: Bad Seeds will continue across the Bat-Books through September and October.

Man, Gotham has seriously seen better days! It's wild how the voters are getting thrown into the mix this time. I'm really curious to see how that affects the whole dynamic between Batman and the city. Can't wait to get into "Batman: Bad Seeds"! Always up for a good Gotham storyline. How about you all? Any theories on what’s going to go down?
