Batman Arkham Knight: Batgirl and More Season Pass Details Confirmed
Hot of the heels of the recent initial announcement of the Season Pass for Batman Arkham Knight, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment announced even more details for Season Pass and Premium edition of the game. Fans were not happy when it was announced that the Season Pass would have a $40 price tag. However, probably in response to negative fan reaction and complaints, Warner Bros. announced a host of features for the Season Pass, including confirmation that players will be able to play as Batgirl in the game, which is huge news for the franchise.
In the past, Barbara Gordon appeared in the Batman Arkham games as Oracle. However, this will be the first time that players will portray her in her famous superhero alter-ego role of Batgirl. According to WB, Batgirl: A Matter of Family will be a new prequel story expansion that will feature a new location for the game. Considering that Barbara is already Oracle and paralyzed by the time of Batman: Arkham Asylum, this prequel story mission will have to be set before the events of that game. In Batman: Arkham Origins, Barbara Gordon is still a teenager and meets Batman for the first time in the game.
Here is a full list of new features available for the upcoming Batman Arkham Knight: Season Pass.
- The Season of Infamy – Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.
- Batgirl: A Matter of Family – An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series.
- Gotham City Stories – Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.
- Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks – Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.
- Crimefighter Challenge Maps – Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.
- Character Skins – A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.
It appears that Batman Arkham Knight, at least with the Season Pass DLC, will have a number of additional story-based content in comparison to the previous two games. Still, $40 is a hefty price for a Season Pass, and more than what any publisher typically charges for one.
Batman Arkham Knight is due out on June 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. You can check out the full promotional artwork image for Batgirl in the game below.
