In most RPGs you play as the monster-hunting adventurer/warrior, who slays daily to earn his keep and purchase strong armor and goods. In Bargain Heroes, the tabletop game from Renegade Game Studios, you experience the story from the opposite perspective…you’re the shopkeeper that the heroes rely on.

This task turns out to be just as difficult as the monster-slaying life, if not harder. Draft item cards to fill your shelves, and make sure everything is well-stocked and available. You’ll also have the other players in the game to think about…each player is tending their own shop, and only the one with the most attractive goods and deals will rope in the wealthiest warriors. Will you go out of business, or become a franchise in every county?

Now Bargain Heroes is getting a new expansion: Sunk Costs. This addition throws in a boatload of sailors, nautical shopwares and monsters, along with the new Supply Ships game mode. The expansion isn’t out yet, but you can pre-order it today, and if you do you’ll get the limited-edition Secret Cave promo shop (while supplies last).

Bargain Quest is a game of adventure and capitalism for 2-6 players. You and your friends will take on the role of shopkeepers in an RPG town plagued by monsters. You must draft item cards to stock your shelves and arrange your displays to attract the wealthiest heroes to your shop.

You can purchase Bargain Quest through the Renegade Studios website. It would also be available at hobby shops nationwide, if they were open (but call around; they may deliver).
