Avatar Generations Launches On Mobile
When will we have a video game set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe that is worthy of the show’s quality? That day is…not today, but we can keep hoping. Avatar Generations is a cool idea — a turn-based squad RPG adventure game — but it’s exclusively for mobile devices. Darn!
Announced last summer, Avatar Generations takes place within the original three-season series and retells its events. Players have the option of playing the roles of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Toph, and other characters simultaneously. The full cast lineup is not mentioned in the release, but we’ve heard controlling Cabbage Merchant is a possibility. As you wander the Four Nations you’ll frequently be forced to engage in turn-based battles. Each character has their own unique skills they can use, plus two or more characters can perform a combo for a special move. Support characters like Momo and Appa will also lend a hand from time to time.
Future updates to Avatar Generations will add new characters and companions, additional cosmetics and gear for customizing heroes, and more areas to explore. Since it’s called “Generations” you’ll eventually be able to experience other eras and play as and alongside other Avarars: Korra, Roku, Kiyoshi, etc.
But since it’s mobile, the one thing you’re all wondering is “how is it going to pester me for money.” The PR states “in-app purchases will allow players to customize their game experience with exclusive items, cosmetics, and more.” Hopefully nothing will prevent you from actually playing the game.
Avatar Generations is available now for iOS and Android devices.
