Attack On Titan: The Last Attack

Attack On Titan: The Last Attack English Dub Trailer

We’ve got about two and a half weeks before Attack On Titan: The Last Attack plays in theaters, which means it’s time to show what the English dub of the movie will sound like. Crunchyroll released the English language trailer this morning. It’s not that big a reveal, though — obviously, it’s going to sound the same as the English dub of the original series finale, which this movie is a recut of.

If you do want to see this, you’ll have to be quick. Attack On Titan: The Last Attack is opening globally, but will only play for one day in each region. North America is getting it February 10, and no other day. Here’s the full list of premieres by region:

  • February 6: Australia, New Zealand

  • February 10: United States, Canada

  • February 12: Finland

  • February 13: Spain

  • February 20: Denmark, The Netherlands

  • February 21: Norway, Sweden

  • February 25: Germany

  • February 26: United Kingdom, Ireland

  • March 1: France

  • March 3: Italy

Humanity lived quietly behind massive walls built to protect themselves from the threat of monstrous creatures called Titans. Their century of peace was shattered by an attack on their city that left a young child, Eren Jaeger, motherless and vowing revenge on the titans.

Years after joining the Survey Corps, Eren finds himself facing a deadly foe, and ultimately gains a special ability that unveils a new truth about the world he knows…After venturing beyond the walls and separated from his comrades, Eren finds himself inspired by this new truth and plots the “Rumbling,” a terrifying plan to eradicate every living thing in the world. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, a motley crew of Eren’s former comrades and enemies scramble to halt his deadly mission. The only question is, can they stop him?

Can our band of human survivors defeat Eren THIS time? Maybe it’ll end completely differently. (Note to commenters below: we know it won’t; just let us have this gag.) The very very last Attack On Titan movie (yeah right) will premiere here February 10.

Recutting the series finale into a film feels a bit unnecessary, especially since the English dub is already available on Funimation and Hulu. I'm hoping they've added some new scenes or extended existing ones to make it a worthwhile experience for those of us who have already seen it. The theatrical experience is always different, but I'm not sure it warrants a trip to the cinema just for a recut, unless there's some significant new content. I'll probably wait for reviews before deciding whether to see it in theaters.

Another Attack on Titan movie? Really? Weren't we promised this was "The Final Season"? Cash grab alert? Don't get me wrong, I love the series, but this feels like a cheap way to squeeze more money out of fans. I'll probably just wait for it to stream and rewatch the original series finale instead.
