Ardent Seas Launches On Kickstarter
Ardent Seas, a Naval Real Time Strategy game for Windows and Linux, featuring three unique factions, local and online multiplayer, and a single player campaign, has launched a Kickstarter campaign. The stars of the show are the Flagships, enormous floating military bases that are both the core of any fleet, and the primary objective.
The game is set in the far, yet seemingly near, future, in a solar system only identified as Kepler. Thousands of years ago, Humans took to the stars, in search of new worlds. One such world is Tenorra, a water planet slightly bigger than Earth. The people of this world were in the process of recovering from a dark age, brought about by the less-than-optimal colonization of the planet, and have recently settled another, similar, planet in the system: Pyrios.
Tenorra has two dominant powers, the Tenorran Defense Union, and the Coalition of Populist Socialist Nations, and respectively, the Tenorran Defense Navy and the Coalition Navy as playable factions. Now they face a new threat: The Ravagers, a machine race, built by an unknown alien race for the sole purpose of destroying all foreign technology. Ardent Seas comes with a 12-Mission campaign split into 3+1 chapters. The campaign follows the war with the Ravagers from the beginning to the end, and takes place on the planets of Pyrios and Tenorra.
Also part of the campaign, is a ‘suggestive’ Tutorial, which, rather than interrupting the gameplay, points towards the various game mechanics without forcing you to do any special tasks. Units can be customized, with camouflage patterns with adjustable colors, unit skins, and in some cases, even alternate ship models. This part of the customization is purely cosmetic, however, units can also be customized in terms of weaponry to an extent. In general, Weapons can either be upgraded in damage output, or in firing range, but some are changed completely.
