Sony steamed out its latest State Of Play broadcast this afternoon. You never know what you’re going to get from these things, but this time, there were some pleasant surprises. Here’s the best of what we saw today…
The biggest news was a bona fide sequel to Sucker Punch’s 2020 open-world adventure game Ghost Of Tsushima. This time, you’ll be controlling a different Ghost — named Atsu, under a different mountain (see title). Sony hopes to get this out sometime within 2025, which we hope happens.
Love Astro Bot? Here’s some more! It’s way too soon to discuss a sequel, but there is DLC on the way. A free update later this fall will add five new online speedrun levels and new VIP Bots from games like Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2.
Awwww yeah! If you’ve never touched the Lunar games on PS1 or Sega CD before that, you’re about to get another chance! Good thing too, because have you seen the prices for a copy lately? Lunar Remastered Collection will be multiplatform, not just on Playstation, and will include the cutscenes and quality of life improvements introduced in the PS1 version. Also, I sincerely hope they keep the Working Designs translation with all its…”liberties.”
Sony recently embraced the “Pokemon with guns” game Palworld with some exclusive deals — a decision that was ill-timed, as Nintendo seems to have found a way to sue the makers of the former game. This trailer was probably in the works before that news broke last week. Anyway, it has officially launched on PS5. Get it before you can’t get it.
The makers of Lost In Random introduce their new gothic-looking masterpiece, The Midnight Walk. The stop-motion aesthetic of this whole thing looks very cool and unlike anything else on the PS5. The game will be playable in VR and should arrive on the system next spring.
If you were watching this year’s Flame Fatales speedrun marathon on Games Done Quick, you saw a playthrough of Fear The Spotlight, a survival horror / puzzle game not technically available at that time. But it’s coming back to PC (after being briefly available earlier there) and consoles as well. Look for it this October.
Finally, it wouldn’t be a State of Play without a completely pointless “remastering” of a game that’s barely old at all. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will get a slight glow-up October 31. If you have the PS4 original, the upgrade costs just ten bucks.
