Alien: Covenant

Alien: Covenant Details, Official Synopsis and More Revealed

20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott have some new details for the next installment of the Alien movie franchise with Alien: Covenant. This will be the follow-up or more direct sequel to the 2012 film Prometheus. It is quite interesting as Fox and Scott seemed cagey about any connection between Prometheus and the Alien franchise when Prometheus was released several years ago. According to Fox, the new movie will conect directly with the 1979 sci-fi classic Alien. Alien: Covenant is due out for an October 6, 2017 release date.

Here is the official synopsis from 20th Century Fox:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

So it looks like this will not be a direct continuation going off of the end of Prometheus. The synopsis confirms that Michael Fassbender is returning as the synthetic android David. However, there is no mention of the other survivor from the film, Noomi Rapace’s Shaw. Is Shaw dead? What has happened to her. It seems there will also be a new crew of human victims to face the new threat in this film.
