Blindflug Studios has finally finished their midair shooter game, Airheart, and it’s available for purchase digitally starting today on Playstation 4 and PC via Steam.

Most folks expect this type of game to take the form of a bullet hell shmup, but Airheart adds a few unique and innovative twists. The most obvious is that the game takes place in a 3D environment — some levels will have you automatically ascending into the skies, while others take you on an isometric path through towers and clouds.

Welcome to Granaria, a flying city in the clouds. Meet Amelia – a young pilot and fisherwoman wishing to reach the abundant world’s edge. Sky fishing became a really dangerous job, with pirates roaming around everywhere. So start your engines, arm your airplane and get ready to make the catch of a lifetime!

In addition to firepower, Amelia also has a grappling rope she can deploy at any time. The rope has multiple uses: you can use it to collect scrap to upgrade your airplane, you can take part in the art of sky fishing, or you can hook onto a passing enemy and throw him into a tower — BOOM!

“It’s been a long road since we launched AIRHEART in early access; the game has evolved so much since then, and I’d like to thank everyone who supported us during the development process,” said Moritz Zumbühl, Blindflug Studios CEO. “Amelia’s plane is now ready for takeoff, and we can’t wait for the AIRHEART community and newcomers alike to take to the skies and explore Granaria. The Sky Whale is waiting for you!”
