Aftermath, Two siblings trying to Survive terrorist attack

Dylan Sprouse’s Gritty Return in Aftermath

Former child star Dylan Sprouse, widely recognized for his roles in Big Daddy and the Disney Channel hit The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, is poised for a  comeback in the upcoming action thriller Aftermath. This film marks a significant shift from the lighthearted roles Sprouse became famous for in his youth, as he now embraces a more mature, gritty persona in his early 30s.

In Aftermath, Sprouse portrays Eric, a war veteran suffering from PTSD, a challenging and emotional role that pushes him into new territory as an actor. The plot centers around Eric and his younger sister Madeleine, played by Megan Stott, who is best known for her work in Penelope. The siblings are driving home from Boston’s Tobin Bridge when they find themselves caught in an unforeseen and dangerous situation, a nightmarish traffic jam. A group of armed men, led by a cold and ruthless former military veteran (Mason Gooding), sets up a blockade, taking hostages and inciting chaos.

The film builds in intensity as Eric is forced to confront not only the physical danger posed by the attackers but also the emotional weight of his own past. His inner turmoil and PTSD complicate his ability to protect his sister, setting the stage for a gripping psychological and physical battle. As the action escalates, Aftermath promises a mix of suspense and emotional depth, with Eric confronting both the enemy and his personal demons to ensure their survival.

Originally titled The Bridge, the film promises to deliver high-stakes action and heart-pounding suspense, centered on the dynamic between Sprouse’s character and the menacing villain portrayed by Gooding. The tension between the two central characters is expected to drive much of the film’s dramatic momentum, culminating in what is set to be an unforgettable showdown.

Aftermath boasts an impressive supporting cast, adding depth and dimension to the story. Dichen Lachman, known for her roles in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Succession, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., brings her talents to the screen, while Mark Irvingsen, Shahjehan Khan, and veteran actor Will Lyman contribute to the intense atmosphere. Bhanu Gopal, a contestant from Survivor 46, also makes an appearance, alongside Nick Apostolides, who voiced Leon Kennedy in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes.

The creative team behind Aftermath is just as noteworthy. The film is directed by Patrick Lussier, known for his expertise in crafting tension-filled narratives in horror and action films like Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine 3D. Lussier’s skill in balancing intense action with psychological complexity is expected to elevate Aftermath into a compelling and multi-layered thriller. The screenplay, written by Nathan Graham Davis, adds further depth to the project, promising a tightly-woven, suspenseful narrative.

Set to release on November 1, 2024, through Video on Demand, Aftermath presents a unique opportunity for audiences to see Dylan Sprouse in a new light. The film represents a turning point in his career, showcasing his ability to take on more demanding and mature roles, and offering fans a thrilling cinematic experience that blends action, drama, and emotional intensity. As Eric fights for his life and grapples with his traumatic past, Aftermath promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, marking Dylan Sprouse’s triumphant return to the screen.

Wow! This is such a nostalgia trip for me! I remember watching reruns of the 60s Batman show with my parents when I was younger, and Batgirl always stood out. Cryptozoic really nailed the look with the bright purple and yellow outfit, just like in the show! I love how they even included a rare Gold Onyx Edition; it makes me want to preorder and cross my fingers for one of those exclusive ones! Definitely adding this to my growing DC figure collection.

This is such a fantastic tribute to the classic Batgirl! I grew up watching the Batman show in the 60s, and Yvonne Craig as Batgirl was always my favorite. The yellow and purple costume brings back so many memories! I might have to treat myself to this figure for my office—it’s definitely something I could smile at every day.
